Likes:
- Tony exhibits similar behavior to people who are suicidal. He starts giving things away, withdraws from his friends, abuses alcohol, and acts recklessly, to name a few. I appreciated this because I feel it isn’t depicted a lot in movies, much less with a beloved superhero. Instead of heroically accepting his fate and trying to die with dignity, he’s frightened and acts outs. He’s fucking human about it.
- Black Widow is a fun and unexpected twist for anyone who didn’t see it coming. Badass capable women always get props.
Dislikes:
- Tony’s level of arrogance in the first Iron Man was perfect. He didn’t care about receiving fancy awards or being the center of attention because he already knew he was the shit. He brought the party, and could sweet talk any woman he wanted into bed. The sequel felt like a complete 180; now he’s braggadocious, making a crazed speech onstage about how freaking awesome Iron Man is on the opening day of his own year-long expo. What happened to the character arc of the first movie? He was already on top of the world before he became Iron Man, don’t tell me being a superhero suddenly went to his head.
- The sequel’s villains and overall plot fell a little short with me. It’s an alright movie, but not particularly memorable compared to others.
